A ‘striking’ photo from the police shooting of striking miners in South Africa

I am not sure about just what happened, but I immediately thought of Soweto and Sharpeville when I heard of this. An outrageous act of brutality – me, as a working class sympathiser, strongly believe in the rights inherently given to the worker to shape his or her country, but this photograph brings pictures from Soviet Russia, racist pre-Luther King USA, and of course Apartheid South Africa to life. Horrifying – Nelson Mandela’s legacy defamed, the rainbow state smeared with the blood of its workers.

The picture is borrowed from The Guardians website, link here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/gallery/2012/aug/16/south-africa-police-miners-shooting?picture=394819688#/?picture=394819692&index=6
